Hearts of Fire

Who are we and what do we do?

Hearts of Fire was established in response to families of Firefighters who wish to have a support group in times of need, and to work toward strengthening the bond among the firefighter family community.

We partnered with the Denver Firefighters Protective Association (DFPA) and have taken over the management of the Denver Firefighters Relief Fund. We have successfully received our 501c3 non-profit status, and are actively working on various fundraisers. Monies raised through donations and fundraisers are used for the benefit of critically ill or injured firefighters and their families, in addition, we provide a holiday basket to the families of Firefighters who have passed away during the year; we try to learn as much as we can about the family so we can customize the basket to their likes and interests.

We have completed our first cookbook; contact any of the Hearts of Fire Board members to get your copy, the books are $15.00.  We also have beanie Dalmatians for $10.00.  Cookbooks and Dalmatians are available from any Board Member and limited supplies are available at the Credit Union.

Hearts of Fire has a line item deduction through payroll.  Your contribution along with our various fundraising activities would allow us to be very generous when assisting a firefighter family in their time of need. If you are interested in donating on a regular basis to the fund, please fill out the enclosed form and fax or mail it to us, or contact Ida in Payroll.

This fund has been established to benefit the Denver Firefighters Protective Association members and their families. Your contribution of time, money, or both, is important in keeping this fund active and successful. We are in need of board representation as well as members.

Our monthly meeting is held on the third Saturday of every month at 9:00am at the Association Building at 2342 Broadway. We are in need volunteers to help out for various fundraising activities, as well as volunteers who would be able to offer assistance in the event of a large-scale emergency.

In addition to fundraising activities, Hearts of Fire has worked with the city to complete a large-scale emergency disaster plan. Hearts of Fire will be an active participant in the planning of a line of duty service and will be in charge of making sure that all Firefighter family members have a special seating area in the church.
